  • Warner Bros. Studios, Ed Ryba (guest) wrote 9 years ago:
I LOVE Warner Bros. Studios! I spent a LOT of time there during my "misspent" youth! I'd tell you how I sneaked in, but when I used to do that, it was LONG before the age of terrorism, and most likely wouldn't work today. Besides, they've pretty much torn down the old Back Lot, which was the most fun anyway. And if you REALLY want to see the place, they now offer a tour. It's NOT a "touristy" thing like Universal's Theme Park. It's a look at an actual working studio. So if you're ready to pony up the rather pricey fee for their "VIP TOUR", DON'T expect rides and attractions. Instead, you're MUCH more likely to find out how movies are made, and you'll learn some of the history of one of the film industry's GREAT studios.

The community has been thriving the past few years. Downtown Burbank has been popular place to hang out with friends and family. Stores and restaurant are opening one after another.
  • Vern's Auto Detail, Jay Jackson wrote 10 years ago:
0 stars if possible. When this place first opened me and my girlfriend took her daughter's Toyota Avalon in for complete detailing. I had been driving the car to work everyday because I drive a duramax diesel pickup and wanted to save on fuel and her daughter didn't need the car at the time. I listened to the stereo everyday back and forth to work. I only played the front speakers because the back deck woofer rattled and needed replacement, the front sounded great (stock JBL system with midrange in the doors and tweeters in the dash). We were listening to the stereo when we took it in. When we picked up the car I dropped off my girlfriend and she drove it home. The next day I drove to work, the front speakers did not play. When I came home from work we called Vern's and they tried to get us to take the car to his friend's stereo shop in Glendale. I said no I will check it myself. Only problem is that the next day was Saturday and my girlfriend and her daughter were driving to Davis for her last year in college where the car would stay for the next year or so. A little more than a month ago the car came back to me and I purchased it from her. Well today I decided to check out what happened to the stereo. I do want to state the fact that I am 100% certified in all fields of automotive repair employed at a GM dealership in Los Angeles. I am 56 years old and have been repairing vehicles of all kinds for over 45 years. The first thing I checked, because it is the easiest part to get to, is the tweeters, the housing that holds them snaps right out of the dash. Upon tweeter removal I couldn't believe what I found. One of the wires was cut at the capacitor. On the other side not only is the wire cut but the capacitor is gone. I am so aggravated that I had to stop everything I was doing just to sit down and write this review. Tomorrow when I get home I will remove the door panel to see what Vern's did to the midrange speakers. I will post more! Stay away from this place -- they are thieves. I only wish I had checked out the problem right after we picked up the car so I could report them and possibly have them arrested for fraud. Unfortunately there's not much I can do now except to warn others of their trickery.

Lockheed owned all of the property along Empire on the north side of the tracks including the southeast corner of the airport, the Yahoo campus, and the property where Fry's currently is. Check out Wes Clark's "Burbankia" page for some great historical photos dating back to when Empire China was on the corner of Empire and Victory Place/San Fernando.

STUDIO 4 was used for Elvis Presley's 1968 Comeback special. 40 million Americans watched the show, which was originally intended as a Christmas special. But it became a showcase of Elvis' indelible music and stage performance. The program won a Peabody Award and put Elvis back in to live performances after almost a decade of making movies.

I spent a few hours looking at Warner Bros. photos of the wharehouses full of furniture from shows & productions. It was like the wharehouse in Indiana Jones......ENDLESS! To refurnish the Walton set House has to be possible if every item is stored and numbered. Unless there was an auction,Humpty Dumty could be put back together again!
